The Westmoreland Museum of American Art offers innovative and engaging monthly art classes taught by a professional art instructor giving children the opportunity to expand and explore their creativity.
Paintings of people are what you will see on your tour through the Museums’ galleries. Examine the types of clothing, facial expressions, and surroundings in these paintings. In the studio, gather some unusual supplies and assemble a puppet with its own personality reflected through its facial features and clothing.
Cost: $15 for Museum members, $20 for non-members. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. To register or for more information, contact 724.837.1500 x110 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
And don’t forget to visit the Center for Creative Connections!
This interactive center in the Museum invites visitors of all ages to explore activities related to the collection. Each hands-on activity gives visitors a fun way to make connections to the artwork in the galleries. Current activities include an opportunity to create landscape layouts, a build-a-bridge activity, a large drawing glass that inspires you to be an artist and create fun, full-length portraits of your friends and family, and a stop-motion animation activity that allows you to make artwork come alive by animating a selection of backgrounds and characters from our paintings.
