It is about the arrangement of images\, textures\, colors and shapes. I work in both a representational and non-representational manner\, struggling with the need to merge figuration with a love of abstract expressionism.” The result is two distinct bodies of work\, each represented in The Westmoreland’s permanent collection: Inside Airplane (2022)\, oil and acrylic on canvas from the Nonie Series; and Bluffs (2016)\, oil and acrylic on canvas. In addition to being an artist\, Scott has been part of The Westmoreland’s Art Team\, working as Preparator\, for the past eight years. Learn more about Scott’s artistic practice at his website scotthunterfineart.com. \nNOTE: This exclusive tour is available for Museum members at the $500 level and above. SUMMARY:Contemporary Glass from the Salatka Collection (Pop-Up Exhibition)
DESCRIPTION:On view during Reflections in Glass: October 14–18\, 2026 \n \nFrom elegantly crafted vessels to expressive sculptural forms\, the works in this exhibition demonstrate the remarkable possibilities of contemporary glass. Drawing on longstanding traditions of craftsmanship while pushing the medium in new directions\, these artists use techniques including glassblowing\, fusing\, etching\, and sandblasting to manipulate glass in strikingly different ways. \nThe works on view come from the collection of retired physician and longtime art collector Dr. Karl Salatka\, alongside a work from the Museum’s permanent collection. Over several decades\, Salatka has built his collection through curiosity and a strong personal response to the art he encounters. The works gathered here reflect that spirit of discovery and a shared appreciation for the expressive possibilities of glass. \nThis pop-up exhibition is on view during Reflections in Glass\, October 14–18\, 2026. Ticket required.
