The Westmoreland is going virtual with Community Day. Each community day we will present a variety of programs filled with fun and creative activities including art activities, musical performances, dance parties, and much more.
Community Events are made possible with support from the McKinney Charitable Foundation and the Brooks Foundation through the PNC Charitable Trusts Grant Review Committee.
PART 1 – Yoga with Dub Yoga Plus & Salt Painting Art Activity
- Restorative Yoga for Beginners with Dub Yoga Plus
Try doing some Restorative Yoga for Beginners with Dub Yoga Plus, a studio celebrating community and fostering a space where all are welcome. Owners, Leigh and Jacques are a fierce husband and wife team that have created a business that highlights their diverse family backgrounds and individual talents. Their studio is one that has a mission to nurture mind, body and soul.
- Art Made Using Stuff at Home: Salt Painting Art Activity
Join Michael Carsone as he demonstrates how to create a salt art painting with materials you can find around your home or simply watch the demonstration to find inspiration for a project you might want to try out later once you have time to gather more materials. What Materials Would Be Helpful to Follow Along: Food Coloring (or Watercolor Paints), Elmer’s Glue, Cardstock Paper or Cardboard (regular paper will not be strong enough), Paint Brushes, Cup for Water, Paper Plate for Palette.
PART 2 – The Greensburg-Hempfield Library Children’s Book Story Time
- Stories read will include: King of Kindergarten by Derrick Barnes and I Believe I Can by Grace Byers.
PART 3 – fig Musical Performance & Blanket & Board Charcuterie Tutorial

Elizabeth Harris (she/they) is a private practice music therapist, music instructor, and performer under the moniker “fig.” She loves writing songs about queer yearning, as well as writing about music’s emotional impact on the human person. - Blanket & Board: Food Inspired by The Museum’s Collection
Tierra Throne and Colleen Peddycord of Blanket & Board will create a charcuterie board inspired by the Museum’s still life collection. Thorne and Peddycord bonded over a love of charcuterie and started Blanket & Board as a way to provide fun, outdoor experiences for friends to come together and indulge with a fancy picnic. As therapists, they understand the need for self-care, the importance of taking time to enjoy the company of loved ones, and the beauty of Pittsburgh’s green spaces.

Have your child try some yoga during Dub Yoga Plus’s Kids Yoga! During Kids Yoga, children will have the opportunity to learn a myriad of yoga poses, while being imaginative, creative and most importantly having lots of fun!
