America250PA Commemorative Bell to be Unveiled at The Westmoreland during August 10th Community Day Event
GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania (July 29, 2025) — The Westmoreland Museum of American Art is excited to announce the unveiling of a Bells Across PA bell at the Museum on Sunday, August 10. The unveiling will take place at 11am in coordination with the Museum’s community day event, Sunday Fun Day: Animal Kingdom, from 10am to 3pm, featuring fun activities for all ages. A project led by America250PA, Bells Across PA places unique, artist-designed replicas of the Liberty Bell in all 67 counties of Pennsylvania in celebration of the United States’ 250th Anniversary in 2026.
Bells Across PA has given artists across the Commonwealth the opportunity to decorate three-foot fiberglass bells to commemorate the upcoming United States Semiquincentennial. Each bell will be a unique, original piece, with the goal of having at least one bell in each of the 67 counties. The Westmoreland is proud to serve as a host site for one of Westmoreland County’s commemorative bells. The bell, which is sponsored by Discover Westmoreland and GO Laurel Highlands, will remain on view outside at the Museum through 2026.
The Museum collaborated with America250PA, Discover Westmoreland, Westmoreland Heritage, and GO Laurel Highlands in selecting an artist to create a design for the bell. Through a countywide call for artists, local artist Mandy Sirofchuck was chosen. Sirofchuck, a renowned glass artist with over 40 years of experience, has created a glass mosaic design that depicts the region’s iconic landmarks and waterways, diverse wildlife, and lush natural resources. The bell also references significant places in Westmoreland County and the hardworking spirit of the people who call this area home.

About America250PA The Pennsylvania Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial (America250PA) was established by the General Assembly and Governor in 2018 to plan, encourage, develop and coordinate the commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of the founding of the United States, Pennsylvania’s integral role in that event, and the impact of its people on the nation’s past, present, and future. Bells Across PA is one of America250PA’s signature initiatives—a public art project placing at least one artist-designed fiberglass replica of the Liberty Bell in all 67 counties by 2026. Each bell is a unique work of art, created by a Pennsylvania artist and placed in a meaningful public space to honor the people and places that shape the Commonwealth’s story.
