Community Open House to Celebrate Judy O'Toole's Retirement with Presentation of Commissioned Portrait

GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania (May 14, 2018) – Members of the community are invited to gather at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art for a Community Open House on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 5-7pm to celebrate the Museum’s retiring Richard M. Scaife Director/CEO Judy O’Toole.
The evening will recognize Judy’s remarkable tenure of 25 years and the revolutionary transformations the Museum has undergone during her leadership. Since 1993, she has guided the Museum through growth and change, raising its status to a nationally-recognized museum, connecting with the public through The Westmoreland’s regional and American collections, developing community-oriented educational programming and expanding the Museum’s geographic reach.
Throughout the evening, guests will be able to sign an oversized thank you card for Judy and enjoy live entertainment. Complimentary light bites and tastings will be provided by Crooked Creek Distillery and Smoke Stack BBQ. The event is free to the public and hosted by the Committee for The Westmoreland.
Additionally, a portrait of Judy commissioned by the Museum from photographer Mark Perrott and painter Robert Qualters will be on view to the public for the first time. The work is a collaboration between the two artists, who worked together in a similar fashion for an exhibition, Points of View: A Shared Vision, at The Westmoreland in 2003. Fifteen years later, the Museum commissioned the artists to work together again to produce Judy’s portrait in honor of her 25 years of leadership. This reunion led to their work entitled Portrait of Judy, 2018, which will have its public unveiling at the open house.
