The Westmoreland Welcomes Spring with the Return of Art in Bloom
This year’s presentation includes special guest designers Ed Libby, Nemacolin Creative Director, and Chef William Racin, Instructor at Westmoreland County Community College School of Culinary Arts and Hospitality
GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania (March 18, 2025) – The Westmoreland Museum of American Art welcomes the start of spring with the return of the popular Art in Bloom, presented from Wednesday, March 26, through Sunday, March 30, 2025. During these five days, visitors will experience new incredible creations by 20 talented floral designers, all inspired by works of art on view in the Museum’s galleries. Prizes, including Director’s Choice and People’s Choice, will be awarded to the most outstanding displays.
“We are very much looking forward to presenting Art in Bloom with several special additions this year,” commented The Richard M. Scaife Director/CEO Silvia Filippini-Fantoni, PhD. “We thank all of the floral designers and special guests Ed Libby and Chef Racin for contributing to what promises to be a spectacular experience for our visitors!”
A strong showing of attendees turned out for last year’s Art in Bloom celebration, which was extremely well received. New this year, The Westmoreland is excited to announce that international creative director and world-renowned event designer Ed Libby, who is Creative Director at Nemacolin, will serve as a special guest designer, creating two special floral installations inspired by works in the Museum’s collection. Additionally, award-winning Chef William Racin, Baking and Pastry Instructor for Westmoreland County Community College’s School of Culinary Arts and Hospitality, will create a floral design entirely made of sugar also inspired by a work from the Museum’s collection.
“Ed Libby is excited to bring the magic of his floral installations, experienced daily by guests on property at Nemacolin, to the 2025 Art in Bloom celebration, and the larger community of The Westmoreland Museum of American Art,” remarked Kathleen M. O’Hara, Special Projects Coordinator for Ed Libby & Company. “Ed had the privilege of working with two of the Museum’s most iconic pieces, which he believes are an artful representation of the diverse offerings available to the Nemacolin guest, from ultra-modern luxury to meticulously refined old world elegance.”
“We are delighted to see Chef Racin’s work displayed at The Westmoreland. Inspired by the art of the Museum, Chef Racin’s design done exclusively in sugar is an example of a blend of arts,” said Dr. Cindy Komarinski, Culinary Arts and Hospitality Program Director at Westmoreland County Community College. “With a long history of working in the finest resorts and restaurants, we feel privileged that his artistry encourages so many students to enroll and pursue careers in pastry arts. Being part of Art in Bloom allows his work to reach a larger audience and may inspire others to enter the field.”
