Steel Valley Visions: An American Legacy
Immersive Experience opens January 21, 2026
Steel Valley Visions: An American Legacy comprises a traditional exhibition (Oct. 4, 2025–Feb. 2, 2027) plus an immersive component that opens January 21, 2026.
Throughout the Big Steel Era in western Pennsylvania, artists captured a compelling visual record of the industry’s rise and fall: the grit and glory, power and peril, beauty and brutality. At the height of the industrial boom, the region’s three rivers burned bright with molten metal, and thick smoke filled the air. This was a place where muscle met machine, and where immigrants and locals alike shaped not only steel, but also a new vision of modern America.
A century after its peak and decades after most of the mills and mines went quiet, the Steel Valley continues to inspire artists as it remains a powerful symbol of American ambition, resilience, and transformation. This exhibition brings together historical and contemporary works that reflect on the region’s industrial past and its continuing influence.
