The Westmoreland Museum of American Art Honors Legacy of Richard M. Scaife

Director/CEO position renamed in his memory

GREENSBURG, PA – The Westmoreland Museum of American Art is pleased to announce that after a unanimous vote, the Board of Trustees has re-named the Director/CEO position held by Judith OToole, “The Richard M. Scaife Director/CEO.”
A 2005 recipient of the museums Westmoreland Society Gold Medal as “Distinguished Patron,” Mr. Scaife supported the Museum during his lifetime through gifts of art, personal funds and those donated through the Allegheny Foundation. Posthumously, Mr. Scaife gifted The Westmoreland with approximately 220 works of art and $5 million to support the current Capital & Endowment Campaign. Highlights of his generous gift include major works by leading figures of the Hudson River School, including multiple works by William Trost Richards, one of his personal favorites.
“It is almost as though his good counsel and collegial companionship is still with me through his name,” says Judith OToole, The Richard M. Scaife Director/CEO.
Bruce M. Wolf, President of the Board, adds, “The Board of Trustees has deliberated over a period of months to find a way to acknowledge the game-changing contributions of Richard M. Scaife. We are pleased to announce naming the Directorship in his honor as a symbol of his dedication to the institution as a whole including collections, exhibitions and programs. Further, this action will carry his name into the Museum’s future as a legacy impact.”

About the Westmoreland Museum of American Art

The Westmoreland Museum of American Art is currently operating out of a temporary location  Westmoreland @rt 30  while the Museum undergoes a major renovation and expansion. Located at 4764 State Route 30, between Greensburg and Latrobe, Westmoreland @rt 30 features works from the permanent collection, monthly Pop-Up Exhibitions, Studio Workshops, hands-on art activities for children on Saturdays and Sundays, Art on Tap “happy hour” events on the second Friday of every month and more. Regular hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 11 AM – 5 PM. An American Marketplace, the Shop at Westmoreland @rt 30, is open seven days a week from 11 AM – 5 PM. As part of a multi-year business plan tied to the renovation and expansion project, the Museum has launched Imagine What’s Possible: The Westmoreland Capital and Endowment Campaign.
