GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania (September 9, 2026) — The Pittsburgh Glass Center and The Westmoreland Museum of American Art are pleased to announce a partnership to present Reflections in Glass—a five-day premiere celebration at the Museum from October 14-18, 2026, followed by a featured exhibition at the Pittsburgh Glass Center in Winter 2027. Through a call for artists issued in April, the two organizations have selected 15 artists from the Pittsburgh region and beyond, who will each take inspiration from a specific work of art on view at the Museum, assigned through a random selection process, to create a new original glass artwork.

Scaife Director/CEO of The Westmoreland Museum of American Art. “We are excited to welcome visitors to experience this five day celebration of creativity, when our galleries will truly be sparkling with these fantastic glass creations.”
“Reflections in Glass is a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and the power of art to spark new ideas,” said Heather McElwee, Randi & L. Van V. Dauler, Jr. Executive Director of Pittsburgh Glass Center. “By inviting glass artists to respond to works from The Westmoreland’s collection, we’re creating a unique dialogue between artistic disciplines, generations, and perspectives. This partnership highlights the incredible talent of our region’s artists while giving audiences an opportunity to experience both organizations in an entirely new way.”
The glass artists’ creations will be paired with the works of art that each were inspired by and on view at The Westmoreland from October 14 through 18, from 10am-5pm daily, with admission of $10 for Adults and $5 for children. Members of the both the Museum and the Glass Center receive free admission as do children ages 3 and under. Reflections in Glass admission includes complete access to the Museum, including the Ansel Adams: Majestic Lands and Victoria Sambunaris: Altered Lands ticketed exhibitions, which open on September 13.
The five-day celebration will also include live demonstrations, several workshop classes with advance registration required, the chance to meet the glass artists, a special after hours social event, and a culminating community day on Sunday with free admission for all and featuring fun activities. Additionally on Sunday, the People’s Choice Award recipient will be announced with voting compiled from attendees’ votes throughout the five days.
Additionally on view during Reflections in Glass will be a special pop-up exhibition of contemporary glass works from the collection of Dr. Karl Salatka, long-time supporter of the Museum. The exhibition will include a glass artwork by Therman Statom, which was recently gifted to the Museum.
