One-of-a-Kind Art Maze Experience Opens June 13 at The Westmoreland

GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania (June 3, 2025) — This summer, The Westmoreland Museum of American Art welcomes visitors of all ages to enjoy a one-of-a-kind Art Maze experience. This interactive installation will transform the Museum’s large Cantilever Galleries into an exciting labyrinth featuring vibrant murals painted by five talented artists from Westmoreland and Allegheny Counties. Additionally, visitors will encounter fun challenges and games along their maze journey as well as a maze-related scavenger hunt in the Museum’s other gallery spaces. The Art Maze runs from Friday, June 13 through Sunday, August 17.

The Westmoreland has collaborated with professional maze creators A-MAZE-D to develop this playful, immersive experience, which is suitable for all ages. Founded by maze and puzzle designer Dave Phillips and master muralist Chris Minsal, A-MAZE-D produces maze attractions for museums, zoos, schools, and other venues across the country. The Westmoreland’s Art Maze installation will be one of A-MAZE-D’s largest attractions produced to date.

The artists involved in the project—Darryl Audia, Jr., Dan Florent, V Jennings, Bakula Nayak, and Stacey Pydynkowski—were selected through a public call for art proposals process. Each of their murals will draw inspiration from an artwork on view at the Museum, and visitors will be encouraged to find those works through a scavenger hunt.

“We are excited to share this fun Art Maze experience with visitors of all ages and to showcase artwork by these five talented artists,” said Silvia Filippini-Fantoni, Richard M. Scaife Director/CEO. “We hope that the community will join us multiple times throughout the summer to enjoy the maze and the special events that we have planned!”

The Museum will host three events featuring free admission to the Art Maze: Pride Prom on June 21, A-MAZE-ING Summer Saturday on July 12, and Sunday Fun Day: Animal Kingdom on August 10.
