An Evening with Erica Armstrong Dunbar

Historian, writer and lecturer Erica Armstrong Dunbar, will discuss researching and documenting African American history in her award-winning book Never Caught: The Washingtons’ Relentless Pursuit of their Runaway Slave, Ona Judge, who is also the subject of two story quilts featured in Stephen Towns: Declaration & Resistance.

Artist Stephen Towns and Kilolo Luckett, guest curator of the exhibition, will attend Dunbar’s presentation and contribute to the discussion. Following the program, Dunbar will be available to autograph books.

Stephen Towns: Declaration & Resistance Dinner

Join us for this culinary experience inspired by the exhibition Stephen Towns: Declaration & Resistance. The culinary experience will be curated by multifaceted, award-winning chef, author and raconteur Alexander Smalls, and catered by Chef Jackie Page of Love Rocks Café, a black and woman-owned business based in McKees Rocks, PA.

Chef Smalls is the visionary co-owner of renowned NYC restaurants The Cecil and Minton’s. He is also the author of several cookbooks, including Between Harlem and Heaven, and a recipient of the 2019 James Beard Award. He has made numerous media appearances, including repeat features as a celebrity chef judge on Top Chef.
